Lone Workers – Champion change management to drive your safety programme through your business: Blackline

In our final instalment, find out how change management is fundamental to implementing a new lone worker safety programme into your business. Shreesh Nadgouda, Region Sales Manager at Blackline Safety shares some insights below.
Implementing a new or updated safety programme will invariably involve change, the careful management of which can really help make your programme a success. There are many online resources available to help you. Many companies find it helpful to start with a change management template.
If you are asking people to do their jobs in a different way or to learn something new, you should make sure they understand the rationale for change, are included in the decision-making process, and have the opportunity totry out new equipment and procedures.
A team of committed internal ambassadors can really help too – people are more likely to get involved if recruited by a colleague with a message that resonates.
Implementation—including a comprehensive onboarding and training plan—is equally important. It often works best to offer a range of training options such as on-site training, self-serve training, virtual instructor-led training, or ‘train-the-trainer’.

Review, reassess and revise
Once you have implemented your lone worker safety policy and programme, regular assessment and review are key to ensuring it works and continues to work. You could issue post-training evaluations, use employee surveys, and analyse the data you’re getting from your technology to assess adoption and gather feedback.

Most connected lone worker monitoring devices have automated analytics and reporting features that can provide vital data on usage, compliance and trends. You can break down this data however you need—by location, worker or event—to ensure you stay a step ahead of risk.
