Q. What are the future trends of security industry & how does SOLUS has been coping up with this ?

Along with Mobile and Internet, Security Industry also seeing very interesting trends, like all other associated functions in any organisation such as HR n Admin, Security Operations are also influenced with social media styled fast track communication and sharing methods. Concept of information sharing is new industry standard now, means none of the system can survive here unless its openly shares information captures at other system when needed and vice versa. Solus being close to customer feed back always, identified this trend long back and have worked to improve core design of its products line be it Hardware – New generation access controllers and biometric terminals or Enterprise Software – iSOLUS, all are negatively engineered for quicker information collaboration with other systems making security automation efficient.

Q. According to you what is the impact UNION budget on security industry?

Union budget is indeed a futuristic budget, Govt has kept popular moves away and kept important reforms a priority this will have long term benefits. Simplified GST from 2016 will be a boost to industry , which currently struggles with unclear and complex taxation structure specially when an organisation has multiple types of revenues like manufacturing, trading, software licences, services, projects, maintenance contracts , equipment leasing and renting, Experts and Tax authorities have different interpretations of same rule leaves businesses at risk. Hope this will get simplified next year onwards.

Q. What are views on remedies to improve positioning of security industry?

I believe a mature standardisation and a mandate to implement effective security automation based on security sensitivity of the facility will help making our public places more secure and smart. Risks will be deterred greatly.

A regular upgrade / upkeep audit should also be demanded from facility managers to ensure systems in use are relevant with the time. Apart from law some regular counseling, training and knowledge workshops will also encourage end users to invest in this important function. Buyer must appreciate that money spend for this function has tangible / intangible ROI

Q. What are the distinguishing facts of global market as against the Indian market?

Speed of implementations is something our country must learn from International peers, Our tendering and approval process take too much time for little value add at solution front. even when standard equipments purchase takes ages from tendering to implementations, often intended benefits are diluted due to delayed project deliveries. we have to work on simplifying buying process yet keeping transparency intact. Tools like Online Bidding , T1/L1 Factoring etc can save on buying time along with ensuring quality. they are widely used internationally in procurement processes. They are being practiced in India too in couple of projects, we need faster improvements.
