KINTEX Unveils First “Advanced Disaster Response Technology Zone” at 2025 Korea Safety Expo
“Special zone to debut at Korea Safety Expo 2025, featuring AI, robotics, drones, and advanced sensing technologies for next-generation disaster prevention and response.”
KINTEX (CEO Jaeyul Lee) announced that it will host the “Advanced Disaster Response Technology Special Zone”for the first time at the 2025 Korea Safety Expo, taking place from September 17 (Wed) to 19 (Fri). This special exhibition will offer visitors a comprehensive look at disaster response solutions powered by cutting-edge technologies.
Breaking away from the conventional disaster safety industry, which has been centered on equipment and facilities, this new zone will showcase disaster response systems integrated with the latest ICT technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, drones, precision positioning and sensors, and digital twin technology—presenting emerging technology trends in the field.
Reflecting the government’s emphasis on “life safety,” the special zone will cover not only workplace safety and climate change-driven disaster response, but also align with the First Disaster Safety Industry Development Planby fostering a scientific and efficient disaster response technology sector. Its purpose is to propose innovative solutions leveraging advanced technologies, from prevention and preparedness to post-disaster recovery.
The exhibition will feature technologies capable of responding to various disaster types—including recent wildfires, collapses, and missing person incidents. Demonstrations will include precision location-based systems, AI video analytics, autonomous robot navigation systems, and data-driven predictive platforms, all showcasing real-world applicability.
More than 100 public and private institutions—comprising national research institutes, large corporations, and members of the Korea Advanced Safety Industry Association—will participate, with the exhibition spanning over 150 booths.
Highlights include:
- Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM):AI- and big data-powered prediction and response technologies for geological disasters such as landslides and sinkholes.
- Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology (AICT):The world’s first mid-to-long-range wildfire monitoring LiDAR system.
- Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI):Dual-arm robots designed for disaster response.
Intellivix : An AI-powered integrated video surveillance system capable of real-time detection of fire, smoke, falls, theft, crowd accidents, and more from CCTV footage.
The special zone will serve as a platform to validate the commercialization potential of these technologies through live demonstrations and hands-on experiences. It will also support the development of domestic and global market entry strategies. During the expo, various programs—including international export consultation meetings, VIP and docent-led tours, and technology briefings—will also take place.
Seungbum Kim, Director of the KINTEX Safety Industry Exhibition Center, commented:
“This special zone will expand collaboration networks among companies with disaster response technologies and enhance the global recognition of the ‘K-Safety’ brand. With its focus on live demonstration technologies, we expect a strong response not only from policymakers and industry stakeholders but also from the general public.”
Amid the shift toward data-driven prediction and real-time response in disaster management, the Advanced Disaster Response Technology Special Zone will present the future of Korea’s disaster safety industry and showcase cutting-edge K-Safety technologies to strengthen the nation’s capacity to address climate change and increasing social disasters.
