OSH India 2016 reiterates industry’s potential in India

UBM India successfully concluded the 5th edition of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) India, a two-day safety show, on 10th and 11th November, 2016 at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The show brought together internationally renowned exhibitors, consultants, business experts and key government officials under one common platform, to discuss global best practices and seek solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the field of workplace safety and health.

The inaugural ceremony of OSH India, 2016 took place in the presence of Key Dignitaries, Shri Sudhakar Sambhaji Sonawane, Honourable Mayor, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation ( NMMC ); Shri Jayendra Motghare, Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Maharashtra; Shri Ajay Pandit, Director (Technical),  Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India; Smt. K. Hemalatha, Regional Executive Director, Western Region, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Govt of India; Sanjay Pathak, Director, Ordnance Factory Board, Regional Controllerate of Safety (WR) Khadki Pune,  Ministry of Defence, Government of India and  Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India amidst an august industry gathering.

OSH India 2016 , in addition to giving an opportunity to health and safety suppliers and service providers from across the world to showcase their innovations and knowledge amidst an industry landscape of vastly untapped India market, featured a two-day power packed conference that shared and ideated on global practice. The topics of discussion on Day 1 at the conference included:  ‘OSH Challenges in India and the Way Ahead’, ‘Globalisation and The Changing World of Work’, An Integrated Approach to Worker Health’ a case study on ‘How Good leadership Can Drive Improvements in Process Safety’ and presentations on ‘Vision Zero: From Vision to Reality’ and ‘Behaviour Based Safety Management’. Day 2 included a panel discussion on ‘Women and OSH’and ‘The Role of Industrial Hygiene in OSH. It also included presentations on ‘Risk Assessment & Risk Governance’, ‘Fire and Electrical Hazard Prevention’, ‘Making Big Differences to Small Businesses’ and ‘ Health and Safety Risks in Construction’.

The expo also included an Innovation Zone which is a platform for exhibitors to promote and showcase novel products that will benefit the occupational safety and health industry.  It also comprised a new feature this year – a two day ‘LIVE SEMINAR’, which is a safety awareness forum where safety experts from leading safety product manufacturers discussed and demonstrated,  the latest technologies, trends and topics related to safety at workplace.

Speaking on the successful conclusion of OSH India 2016, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “We echo the industry’s advocacy of ensuring the safety and health of the growing workforce in our country. To enhance quality of life as a whole, Occupational Safety and Health is extremely important to emerging economies. UBM India met its objective for the 5th edition of OSH India by providing the perfect platform to the industry to realise this opportunity.”

OSH India 2016 also witnessed the 5th edition of ‘OSH India Safety Awards’ which was open to Indian operating businesses, organizations, alliance and individuals in the public or private sector with a workplace health and safety initiative that complied with any one of the ‘Innovation’ or ‘Hero’ awards categories. Euro Safety Footwear (India) Pvt. Ltd. was the Presenting Partner for the Awards Night which was a celebration of the coming together of the luminaries and fore-runners of the industry, and was marked by a night of glamour and entertainment.  The winners at the awards ceremony were:
